Corn Samples
In corn cultivation, cobs and leaves are usually not reused but left in the field to decompose.
By experimenting with corn by-products, we have explored possibilities such as
turning the cobs into moldable sheet material or weaving the leaves into textiles.
Corn is widely cultivated on a large scale. Further processing of the cobs and leaves would provide the opportunity to create a local material and gives raw material, that is otherwise dumped, economic value.
Possible applications could include food packaging, sheet material for the building industry, or, since it is easily biodegradable, material for urns or plant pots.
